DPOC Float in Alamogordo, New Mexico July 4th Parade

Saturday, July 1, 2017

Members of the Democratic Party of Otero County (DPOC) got together and decorated a float for the July 4th Parade in Alamogordo, New Mexico. The parade theme was "What Makes America Great" and our answer was "Freedom of Speech". We had a lot of FUN decorating our float and visiting with one another.

We had a grand time and managed to stay cool under our constructed awning as it was another hot one in Alamogordo. Hope your 4th of July was a great one!

Thanks to Douglas A. Kerr, Photography for the lovely photos.

This is all I have to say for now.

DPOC Scholarship Presented at Cloudcroft High School/Doug Kerr's 81st Birthday

Monday, May 8, 2017

On Monday, May 8, 2017 I was privileged to present a scholarship to graduating senior Sabina Judah at Cloudcroft, New Mexico, High School during their Awards Ceremony on behalf of the Democratic Party of Otero County (DPOC), New Mexico.

I was astounded at the number of scholarships certain students had applied for and received. Sabina received several large dollar amounts in scholarships due to her diligence in filling out the paperwork and applying for them. There were five students in particular whose names were called again and again as different organizations presented scholarships.

Congratulations to all of the winners, but especially to DPOC's winner, Sabina Judah.

My darling Doug attended this event with me because it was his 81st birthday and I had made dinner reservations at The Lodge Resort and Spa in Cloudcroft to celebrate. When we were being taken to our table, dear friend Linda Laws was there with her family and she jumped up to greet us. We also became acquainted with a couple from Wisconsin, Melinda Myers and Pete Joseph, very friendly people who were very complimentary of this area of New Mexico.

Our food was wickedly delicious, plentiful and quite filling. So much so, that we took home to-go boxes. However, we did have space for Cherries Jubilee for dessert and it was spectacular!

Thanks to Doug for taking the pictures at the Cloudcroft High School Awards Ceremony. It was, indeed, a lovely evening all the way around.

This is all I have to say for now.
