Miss Kitty's Social Club's 10th Annual Hoedown

Three members of Alamogordo, New Mexico Roadrunner Chapter of the Red Hat Society drove to Colorado Springs, Colorado to celebrate with Miss Kitty's Social Club 10th Annual Hoedown sporting our Red and Purple as they are also an official chapter of the Red Hat Society. There were 51 hatters in attendance from Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, Wyoming and I'm not sure where else, but these are the ones I can remember. The photo above is of Gail Swineford, Carla Kerr and Trudy Reese, all from New Mexico.

The hotel that was our original destination got sold and they began remodeling to make it into apartments and meeting rooms so Miss Kitty did some diligent research and was last minute, able to hold our event at the Airport Holiday Inn. There were still a few glitches, however, we all arrived and adjusted our circumstances and had a fabulous hoedown as usual. Women of our ages have learned to go with the flow and make the best of whatever situation.

Not sure who belongs to these spiffy boots, but mine is the gold one on the right.

Miss Kitty arranged for face painting and I was their first customer before breakfast!

I am a painter in acrylics and I was fascinated by this painting of the village where we had lunch at the historic Cliff House in Manitou Springs, Colorado and then on to see the melodrama which was fabulous

The second lady from the left is Mary Stopa, waiting to be seated

 Claire from Wyoming looking stunning!

This is in the castle built years ago by a wealthy priest and we made a Red Hatter out of that bear while waiting for High Tea to begin.

We had such a large gathering that they had to put us in two rooms and this is the back room.

We all had a lovely time because of all of Miss Kitty's hard work. Besides, we are Red Hatters and we always make the best of any situation we encounter because the main thing with us is just to have FUN! Next year we are headed for Guthrie, Oklahoma to join in with their historical western days celebration.

If anyone reading this got a photo or photos of our trip into Old Colorado City Territory Days and our  entertainment at the Iron Springs Chateau Melodrama in Manitou Springs, please share them. I   just got so into what was going on that I forgot to take pictures!
