Red Hatters Day Trip to Ruidoso Downs in New Mexico

Saturday, August 25, 2018

Several members of the New Mexico Roadrunner Chapter of the Red Hat Society in Alamogordo, New Mexico took a day trip to Ruidoso, New Mexico to the Ruidoso Downs Race Track. The weather was perfect and two husbands even accompanied us, Evans, spouse of Alice and Tim, spouse of Kimberly.

After arriving, the first order of the day was to have lunch in Billy the Kid Restaurant. The food was tasty and plentiful and the conversation most enjoyable.

The first race began at 1:00 pm but we missed it due to not quite being finished with lunch. When we finally got into the betting process, my system was to bet on two horses to win, place and show on each race. I ended the day breaking even so I was a happy camper! Evans and Alice seemed to win just about every race so I think they did well. It was a wonderful way to spend a Saturday together and I'm sure we will go again next year when racing season returns.

And, here they come!
The scenery at this track is phenomenal!
This was a classic finish: 1-2-3! I had horse #2 in this one
Since August is my birthday month, the girls gave me a card, a blingy crown pin and a deck of playing cards with a photo of hubby Doug and me on the cards. Love these cards-so different! I do apologize for not getting a picture of Tim Gugliotta, but he went to the casino while we were at the race track and I just failed to take one when he joined us later.

This is all I have to say for now.
