Red Hatters Mall Crawl, Shopping and Lunch

Saturday, April 12, 2014

Due to my illness, I had not been to an event with my Red Hatters in the New Mexico Roadrunner Chapter since December.  It was so wonderful to see the girls again and to catch up on all the happenings in their lives.

We gathered at the local White Sands Mall and shopped from one end to the other. Then we all ate oriental food at  Smiley's Cafe in the mall.  There were five of us plus Margie's daughter  and Winnie visiting from Colorado.  Winnie is a founding member of our chapter and it was so good to visit with her again.  We had one other member in the mall, Rosa Rico, but she was helping take pictures of children with the Easter Bunny as a charitable fund raiser for her Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Chapter.

Of course we had to have our picture made with the Easter Bunny!

Carla's Hiatus Over

Hello All,

I've been quite ill since first of December, 2013 and am finally well enough for my brain to work to write about this and other things.

My illness was a dead bladder and kidney failure which went undiagnosed from December until March 18, 2014 when my gynecologist sent me to a medical group associated with the University of New Mexico Medical School located at Sandoval Regional Medical Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, a suburb of Albuquerque.

I was there about 15 minutes when they diagnosed my problem and made a plan to help and executed it. I barely made it there in time to avoid dialysis. After spending 8 days in the hospital, my body was able to reverse the kidney damage and start me on the road to recovery.  I am indeed grateful to my gynecologist, Dr. Ruthven Sampath of Alamogordo, NM; Dr. Gena Dunivan, urologist/gynecologist, Dr. Julia Riley, and Nephrologist Dr. Eduardo Alas, all of Rio Rancho, NM for saving my life.

My overfull bladder had backed up into my kidneys and my creatinine count was 4.73 where normally it should be between 0.6 and 1.4 mg/dl.  I must return to Rio Rancho on April 23 for Dr. Riley to laser a kidney stone that has developed as well as to inspect the bladder and ureters while in there.

As I always say after one of my medical episodes, of which there have been a few, God isn't done with me yet.  I have some catching up to do on the blog and that will happen over time.  In the meantime, I am going forward to current news.

This is all I have to say for now.
