Red Hatters attend IMAX Theater

Saturday, May 13, 2017

Members of the New Mexico Roadrunner Chapter of the Red Hat Society in Alamogordo, New Mexico attended a showing of "National Park Adventures" at the IMAX Theater on Saturday, May 12, 2017. It is an excellent film of several national parks that many of us may never get to see in person so this is the next best thing.

We then went to a new restaurant in Alamogordo, "Rachel's" for lunch and we were so glad we did. The food is absolutely delicious, the service terrific and we had a lovely time dining and visiting as we always seem to wind up doing, whatever our main event is. We serenaded the birthday girls on our Kazoos and other patrons enjoyed our unexpected entertainment.

The Haunted Garden Wrap Party

May 5, 2017 NMSU-A Theatre on the Hill cast of The Haunted Garden, friends and relatives attended the wrap party at the beautiful home of the Robert Middleton family  in Alamogordo, New Mexico.

Brisket, buns and cake were provided by the Theatre Guild and cast members provided side dishes and snacks. The Middleton family provided drinks and accoutrements. There was ample food and drinks for all. Many enjoyed the beautiful swimming pool, hot tub and water fall all afternoon. I will let the pictures tell the story.

Connie Breding directed this Spring Children's play which was performed for 950 Alamogordo school students during the week before opening to the public on Friday evening, May 5, 2017 and running through Saturday night and Sunday Matinee on May 7, 2017. Attendance was excellent for the public performances as well. Thanks to the Middleton family for providing such a wonderful venue for the wrap party. Thanks to Douglas A. DPOC Scholarship Presented at Cloudcroft High School/Doug Kerr's 81st Birthday

Monday, May 8, 2017

On Monday, May 8, 2017 I was privileged to present a scholarship to graduating senior Sabina Judah at Cloudcroft, New Mexico, High School during their Awards Ceremony on behalf of the Democratic Party of Otero County (DPOC), New Mexico.

I was astounded at the number of scholarships certain students had applied for and received. Sabina received several large dollar amounts in scholarships due to her diligence in filling out the paperwork and applying for them. There were five students in particular whose names were called again and again as different organizations presented scholarships.

Congratulations to all of the winners, but especially to DPOC's winner, Sabina Judah.

My darling Doug attended this event with me because it was his 81st birthday and I had made dinner reservations at The Lodge Resort and Spa in Cloudcroft to celebrate. When we were being taken to our table, dear friend Linda Laws was there with her family and she jumped up to greet us. We also became acquainted with a couple from Wisconsin, Melinda Myers and Pete Joseph, very friendly people who were very complimentary of this area of New Mexico.

Our food was wickedly delicious, plentiful and quite filling. So much so, that we took home to-go boxes. However, we did have space for Cherries Jubilee for dessert and it was spectacular!

Our very capable waiter, Jess, making Cherries Jubilee! Yum! Yum!
Thanks to Doug for taking the pictures at the Cloudcroft High School Awards Ceremony. It was, indeed, a lovely evening all the way around.

This is all I have to say for now.

Red Hatters Day Trip to Old Mesilla Village

Saturday, April 22, 2017

Members of the New Mexico Roadrunner Chapter of the Red Hat Society in Alamogordo, New Mexico carpooled to Old Mesilla Village (an area of Las Cruces, New Mexico) for shopping and dining. Members Alice Johnston-Evans and Margie Purcella hosted this event. Old Mesilla Village is home to many interesting shops and an old Catholic Church plus great restaurants. After finding some great buys upon embarking on the RHS official sport (shopping) it was decided that El Posita Mexican Restaurant would be the dining place. The food was delicious and the service excellent. I got so into the shopping part that I forgot to take any pictures until we were seated for lunch.

This was #ChooseFun for sure as we all had such a great time shopping, dining and visiting. We've been to Old Mesilla before and this day trip is always looked forward to by the group. Alice and Margie chose a great venue for our outing.

This is all I have to say for now.
